Winemaking Notes

The 2012 vintage will be seen as one of Clare’s greatest. The season was mild with abundant spring rain resulting in good canopy growth. The shiraz yield was slightly lower than normal however the harvested fruit showed outstanding quality with intense colour and flavour. The wine was matured in both new and old French 300 litre barrels for 18 months.

Tasting Notes

The nose is delighted with aromas of black berries, hints of black currant  and spice that flow through to the palate. The fruits are luscious and rich with a trace of pepper complimented by soft fine grain tannins. The wine has depth, intense varietal character and is drinking superbly now. It will continue to evolve and mature over the next 5 to 10 years.
